from the world to lynn: stories of immigration

From the World to Lynn: Stories of Immigration is a multimedia project featuring the voices of immigrants and refugees that have arrived to Lynn, Massachusetts, in recent years looking for better opportunities. Almost 30% of Lynn's population is foreign-born, making it one of the most diverse places in the country.

A prosperous shoe-manufacturing city for much of its history, today Lynn struggles with a depressed economy and the challenges of being a refugee resettlement city.

I completed this project as a Hine Documentary Fellow in Lynn, MA, between 2012 and 2013.

From the World to Lynn: Stories of Immigration has been featured by The New Yorker, NPR's The State of Things (WUNC) and Under the Radar (WGBH). It was also exhibited at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University.
